The final of the three capacity auctions was completed today. In terms of the volume of capacity transferred, it was the smallest of this year’s auctions, with £44m of capacity transacted, compared to £133m in auction one and £77m in auction two. However, the 2022 season has been the most active in recent times, with larger volumes this year than any since 2005.  

Prices were down by around 5% on auction two, with the all third party index of capacity falling to 36.0p, having been at 40.6p in auction one and 36.7p in auction two. This meant that the average value of all third party members’ capacity was an average of 38.7p per £1 across the three auctions.
